Tis the season…for a good beach day! Tourists and locals on staycations are flocking to Florida this summer (as they do every year), but among the many options of gorgeous beaches in the Sunshine State, many are finding themselves gravitating toward a standout spot.
If you’ve been keeping up, Florida has been on a streak recently. Just a few months ago in February, Siesta Beach on Siesta Key took the No. 1 spot in the United States on Tripadvisor’s 2025 Best of the Best Beaches List.
Earlier this year, west coast Siesta Beach on Siesta Key took the No. 1 spot in the U.S. in Tripadvisor’s 2025 Best of the Best Beaches List in February.
Recently, Tripadvisor used its Summer Travel Index to track which travel destinations are trending, and named Panama City Beach as Florida’s top destination for the summer.
The beach also received another accolade, coming in seventh for vacation destinations in the nation. Key West followed closely in eighth place and Clearwater in ninth.
Panama City Beach is known for its 27 miles of sugar-white sand and record number of bottlenose dolphins. It also has over 50 offshore dive sites, and is known for having the biggest Fourth of July fireworks display on the Gulf coast. As a vacation destination, Panama City Beach is particularly popular with families, beachgoers, and formerly a major spring break hub.
The area offers a wide range of attractions, including two state parks (St. Andrews State Park and Camp Helen State Park), numerous water sports activities like snorkeling, dolphin watching, and fishing, as well as family-friendly amusement parks (like Shipwreck Island Waterpark), entertainment complexes (Pier Park), and diverse dining options.
Even celebrities have noticed, as Dolly Parton’s Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show has chosen to hold a special summer event there, as well as in Pigeon Forge and Myrtle Beach.
The beach has nearby shopping centers, and places to dine with family or for a nice date night.
