ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – North Springs High School in Sandy Springs has been evacuated after a contractor ruptured a gas line on Friday afternoon, according to school officials.

The school said all students and staff are safe and have been dismissed early. Buses are already running, while the carpool line will enter on Dalrymple Road and exit onto Roswell Road.

Any students who weren’t picked up or don’t ride the bus will be at Sandy Springs Middle School.

Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul said the fire department is still at the scene, and the city is “trying to determine whether this has wider service impact.”

The Sandy Springs Fire Department said crews did not detect any high gas readings in the building, and the line has been shut off.
