Jureall Miles, 32, faces three felony charges in connection with the incident.
MARION, Ind. — A Marion man has been charged with attempted murder, burglary and battery after police say he allegedly broke into a home and beat a woman.
According to a release from the Marion Police Department, around 9:33 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, officers responded to a call in the 400 block of East Wiley Street, near East Charles Street and North Washington Street on the north side of Marion.
After police arrived on scene, they found a male victim who told police he and a woman were asleep in bed when an unknown man entered the residence and began beating the woman with his fist and later a baseball bat.
The man was later identified as 32-year-old Jureall Miles of Marion.
The male victim told police he had a camera in his room that captured the entirety of the incident. In the video, police say Miles was seen beating the woman and shouting “I’ll kill you, (expletive)!”
Miles is then seen on video dragging the woman out of the bed. The male victim was then seen climbing out a window. Police only spoke with the male victim as neither the female victim nor Miles were on scene. Police did however locate a baseball bat at the scene.
Detectives later learned Miles’ address and located him and a vehicle there. The vehicle was towed and a search warrant was later granted, allowing officers to also search Miles’ residence.
Police say the female victim later contacted police on her own and cooperated with the investigation. She reportedly told police she went to a local hospital with a broken arm and several bruises and abrasions from the incident.
During police questioning, Miles allegedly admitted to striking the woman with a fist one time. He is charged with attempted murder, burglary and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, all felonies.
