Three famous actresses star in HIS THREE DAUGHTERS, a family drama that came out this past fall on Netflix. Movie critics gave this movie high praise, but it didn’t get a single Oscar nomination. Elizabeth Olsen, Carrie Coon, and Natasha Lyonne play three daughters who gather in their father’s New York apartment where he is under hospice care and not expected to live much longer. I didn’t review this fine movie when I first saw it, because although I really admired the excellent acting of its three stars, the pain of losing a parent does not make for an easy watch. But, months later, I still remember parts of it and want to give it a cautious recommendation. The best reason to watch the film comes and hour and 25 minutes in when Jay O. Vance as the cancer stricken Vinnie gets up from his chair and delivers a poignant monologue about his life, his loves, and his regrets. It’s a powerful 6 minute scene that you should rewind and watch twice. (NETFLIX)
