Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller released the identity of the man who was killed in a crash involving a snowplow early Thursday morning on Colo. 115, north of Penrose.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the initial investigation shows a snowplow was traveling southbound on Colo. 115 conducting snow removal operations while the Subaru Outback, driven by James Glidewell, 39, of Penrose, was traveling northbound. The Outback lost control on the snow-packed and slushy road and began to rotate into the southbound lanes. The driver’s side of the Outback struck the front of the snowplow before continuing off the east side of the road.

Glidewell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Colorado Department of Transportation snowplow, a 45-year-old Cañon City man, suffered minor injuries and refused transport to a local hospital.

Both vehicles were only occupied by the drivers.

The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate this crash. No further details are available at this time.
