A non-credible threat led to a lockdown Friday morning at Bel Air High School, police said.Bel Air High School was placed on lockdown as authorities responded to a call for a person who stated that they “intended personal harm,” according to Harford County Public Schools.In response to the call, the school was placed on lockdown as the school safety liaison and law enforcement sweep the building and restrooms, the district said. Regional security coordinators were in route to support the school.”We will provide additional information as we can and ask for your help in keeping students calm and understanding the need to conduct a lockdown at this time,” the district said in a message to the school community.At 12:19 p.m., Bel Air police said the lockdown was lifted after authorities deemed the call was not credible.HCPS sent an updated statement to 11 News shortly thereafter, saying police were clearing the school and instruction would resume.”No individual was found in the building and law enforcement will pursue the origin of the phone call that initiated this lockdown,” the district said in an email.No further information was immediately released.
